I purchased this book knowing full well that it was outdated, but I expected to be able to glean something of value from it for the relatively low price. I feel like I have given it a very fair chance, but after a close reading and several attempts to implement the code presented within, I've found that the book is not only so outdated as to be almost completely useless, but written in a plodding and dense manner, chock full of useless facts and speculation.

Whew! So, it's been about 3 years since I purchased a few books about Java's 3D-API and writing computer games in Java.

I shopped around and this book is the best resource I've seen on Java game programming. It's well written and organized and gives a great general overview of the subject especially in contrast to programming books on other languages.
